Lions (4s)
Our preschoolers are divided into 2 groups:
Lions, who are 3 to 4 years old with a ratio of 8 to 1, and
Horses, who are 4 to 5 years old with a ratio of 9 to 1.
Upon entering our preschool program, the child needs to be completely toilet trained, as we have no diapering facilities in this area.
Each group has their own classroom and enjoys extra activities such as chapel, German, sign language, music, Happy Feet, and special events.
All preschoolers participate in our tooth-brushing program and go on Field Trips throughout the year.
Kindergarten readiness is important to our Horses (or shall I say to their parents), and we do many things during the year to prepare them for the transition. As early childhood education has taught us, children learn through play, experiencing and manipulating concepts and materials that are meaningful to them. This develops a love and desire for learning. We do not sit the child down with a worksheet and have them trace letters and numbers. We encourage academic learning through a variety of activities that involve language, reading, writing and math skills. Our education philosophy is discussed during the initial tour to be sure it matches yours.
As with all our classes, parents are welcome and encouraged to participate as much as they like in our program.
